Just like the great explorers of the old world who reached the shores of Aotearoa, New Zealand based on their skill and driven by curiosity, KiwiMars Outreach is a pilot project that will take students, teachers and the public on a journey of discovery, reaching new frontiers and developing cultural awareness, to find out what it takes to be an explorer of another world.

KiwiMars Outreach provides New Zealand school students with an opportunity to experience space science in a practical way. Through interaction with the KiwiMars 2012 crew they can engage in space science in a novel approach that will add meaning and understanding to often complex ideas.

There will be three main streams of engagement:

Three phases of engagement:

  • Pre Mission
  • During Mission
  • Post Mission

Participate in the KiwiMars 2012 expedition!

Teachers, students and the general public will have the opportunity to participate in the expedition and:

Submit research ideas
  • The onsite crew is looking forward to your research ideas to undertake during the mission;
Engage live with the crew
  • Students, teachers and public can engage life with the crew via live telemetry, video conferences, Skype calls and updates from the mission;
  • Keep an eye on the updates for booking times for the live slot.
Visit our Mission Control
  • Visit the dedicated Mission Control facility, hosted at Carter Observatory.
Visit our Mission Portal

Help us create Resources and Guides or simply enjoy them
Participate in Talks and Seminars upon the crew's return
